A list of all the headstones located in the cemetery on the Pownalborough Courthouse property (as of September 2007):

This is a work in progress.  I will add birth dates, death dates, family information, and photos as I get to them.  In the meantime, if you would like further information about any of the above, please leave a comment below and I will get back to you.

  1. Hi,
I’m looking for my Call ancestors. He and his family lived on Swan Island, but I believe they are buried in Dresden.
I’m looking for Samuel Call born about 1822 died Oct. 2 1909 in Perkins Maine.
Would you happen to know if he would be buried in one of the cemeteries in Dresden?

  2. I live in front of the Pine Grove Cemetery off Rt 127. I believe there is a Samuel Call either to the right as you enter or at the tip-top middle. That’s where most of the Call’s are. I can’t confirm because this is definately not walking weather up here.(below zero with a bitter wind chill and snowed in roads Brrr) Hope this helps.
I was president of the cemetery association for a year and it’s a common name here./N

  3. I’ve been looking for the death site and date of Lousie Prescott Canby (b. PA 1856) for some time. I believe she is in the Pownalborough Courthouse property, as your Headstone list indicates. Her mother, Caroline Louise (nee) Prescott (born ME, died Cedar Grove, ME July 1919), married William Jackson Canby who died in Philadelphia in 1890. I would be indebted if someone near the site could photograph the grave, and provide information on the burial information for Louise Prescott Canby. I will share my biographical info.

  4. Hello,
I am the significant other of Roy Goodwin and have been helping him with his family tree. The one thing he keeps mentioning is that he cannot find where Major Samuel Goodwin is buried. I read that after his wife died that he went back to Charlestown but I can’t find anything saying he was buried there. Do you, or anyone, know where he is buried?

Roy’s ancestor line is John, Major Samuel, Samuel Jr., Major Benjamin, Benjamin Augustus, Irving Converse, Forest Converse and Roy.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter,
