Family: Samuel Goodwin Jr. and Ann Frances Goud

Samuel Goodwin Jr. was born on 10 Feb 1739/1740, the son of Samuel Goodwin and Elizabeth Willard.  He married Ann Frances Goud in 1762 in Pownalborough, Maine.  Ann died 8 Jan 1823.

They had the following children:

  1. Lydia Goodwin, born in 1763, died unmarried 22 June 1841 in Dresden, Maine, and is buried in the Old Courthouse cemetery there.
  2. Ann Goodwin, was born 13 Jan 1765 in Pownalborough, Maine.  She married Jonathan Bowman in 1798.
  3. Samuel Twycross Goodwin, born 1766, died 10 Jul 1848.  He married Elizabeth Holland on 11 Aug 1792 in Pownalborough.  They had eight children.
  4. George Goodwin, born 1768, died 26 Apr 1843 in Dresden, Maine.  He married Sarah, aka Sally, Houdlette on 27 Dec 1797 in Dresden.  They had six children.
  5. Charles Goodwin was born about 1770 and drowned before 1790.
  6. John Goodwin was born about 1773 and was lost at sea.
  7. Sarah Goodwin was born in 1776 and died in 1810.  She married Nathan Hayward on 7 Dec 1809 in Dresden, Maine. 
  8. Randolph Goodwin was born about 1779.  His wife’s name was Ann.
  9. Edward Goodwin was born in 1782.  He died 8 Jan 1862 and is buried in the Old Courthouse cemetery in Dresden.
  10. Benjamin Goodwin was born 26 Apr 1784 in Dresden, Maine.  He died on 14 Mar 1859 in Dresden.  He married Sally Lilly, daughter of Converse Lilly, on 23 Jan 1813 in Dresden.  They had twelve children.

Birth, death, and marriage information was obtained from the town records of Dresden, Maine, and of Wiscasset, Maine which include the town records of Pownalborough prior to 1794.
